MISSION FULL FUNCTION SWIVEL CHAIR

ZERO-PRESSURE Technology, 16° Forward

with DONATI Full-Function Mechanism

When our designers set out to create a chair that was health-positive, cross-performing, inclusively-sized, and environmentally sensitive, they arrived at a design unlike the world had ever seen. Mission demonstrated a pioneering step in ergonomics and material innovation, and provided a comfortable solution without the standard use of foam, fabric, or leather. It changed people's perception of what an office chair could be—and in doing so it soon found a place in popular culture.

DETAILS

zero-pressure technology

To maximize comfort, Mission arched the front of seat, solving a perennial problem of hard edges placing pressure on the knees and contact stress behind the thights, allowing long-term comfort and total supports for every sitter.  Mission purchase its fabric from K+R has an ability of self supporting and shrinkage technology, creating different tension within the same mesh for comfort seating. Thanks to a dynamic matrix of pixels, the seat and back automatically conform to your body’s micro-movements, distributing your weight evenly as you sit. This reduces pressure and encourages movement, both of which are key to maintaining healthy circulation and focus.

Synchronized movement

Mission enables people to shift from an upright position to a full-recline smoothly and simply with the backrest can be locked at three stages . While the original design supported numerous positions and postures, the frame angle has been adjusted 16 degrees forward to better support the body in the upright position and across a wider range of postures. Whether a person is positioned forward for typing and intense focus, or fully-reclined for conversation and contemplation, they will find Mission moving with them—without any trouble—to offer proper ergonomic support across a larger variety of tasks.

A breath of fresh air for new ideas.

Mission provides the ideal working environment with its mesh backrest. The mesh is breathable and prevents heat build-up. The mesh backrest also impresses in terms of comfortable and body support. It moulds to the body, following the contours and provides support. Mission proves: light design and comfort do not have to be contradictory.

Footrest

From an ergonomics standpoint, Mission follows the lead of our other work chairs, with five ergonomics issues integral to the design of all three:
  • Size and fit. Anthropometric data from market investigation and other sources was used to ensure that the chair fits many different body shapes and sizes.
  • Pelvic stabilisation. The Mission backrest has our integrated, passive PostureFit contour.
  • Kinematics. Our proven Harmonic tilt mechanism was applied to Mission.
  • Pressure distribution. Throughout Mission’s development process, we used our pressure-mapping capabilities to inform the design of the cellular size, flex regions and contouring.
  • Thermal comfort. Special temperature sensors, called thermocouples, were used to evaluate upholstery options and inform textile selection.
